Schools Beyond Regions and Borders is a European-wide initiative designed to foster civic awareness and citizenship skills among secondary school students, empowering them to become active change‑makers in their communities and society at large. Following a pilot phase in 2020, the project was officially launched in February 2021 as a spin-off of the MoSE project of the University of Trento, with the support of the Regione Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol and the Fondazione Bruno Kessler. The first phase involved schools in Austria, Germany and Italy. Over time, the network expanded to include partners from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Finland, France, Ireland, Latvia, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain and the United Kingdom, for a total of 12 European countries and 32 partner schools. SBRB promotes exchange and mutual understanding among European pupils and teachers by sharing knowledge and best practices in education for active citizenship. Its core activities revolve around year-long teaching modules, each focusing on a specific thematic area. These modules are delivered through monthly online and interactive classroom activities across the network. The project also features residential workshops and student mobility opportunities, providing spaces for meaningful face-to-face collaboration.

The collaboration with the SBRB network allows GrACE to expand its reach and impact by engaging a cross-border community of teachers committed to civic education and European cooperation.
