ABSTRACT

Drawing on the experience of Annalisa Corrado as an environmental activist and Member of the European Parliament, the discussion explores how resource scarcity, extreme weather events, and environmental degradation are reshaping economies, migration patterns, and human rights worldwide. It will also examine the role of international institutions and civic activism in advancing a fair ecological transition.

Annalisa Corrado

Annalisa Corrado is an Italian engineer and politician, elected to the European Parliament in 2024 with the Democratic Party. Long engaged in sustainability, renewable energy, and climate justice, she is a member of the Environment Committee (ENVI) and actively promotes a fair ecological transition.

Profilo Parks

Louisa Parks is Professor of Political Sociology at the University of Trento and has previously worked at the University of Lincoln. She is involved in several European projects on democracy, sustainability, and climate governance, including Horizon Europe and Erasmus+/Jean Monnet initiatives. Her research focuses on climate change, social movements, and citizen participation.

Nicoletti

Michele Nicoletti is Professor of Political Philosophy at the University of Trento. From 2013 to 2018, he served in the Italian Parliament and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, which he chaired in 2018. He is the founder and coordinator of OCEAN, a network of universities promoting human rights, democracy, and the rule of law across Europe.
